Your building

The designer works in your browser. The building you set up is written into the page address after “#”, the part of an address a browser does not send to the site, so a reload or a copied link shows the same building without the site seeing it.

When you type a ZIP code, the browser asks the site for the snow loads of that area: a file named by the first three digits of the ZIP. That request is logged like any other (see Server log).

Quote requests

If you ask for prices, the form sends your name, email, ZIP code, phone if you give one and when you want to build, with the building: its link, size, price range and what fits inside. The request is stored on this site’s server and emailed to the site’s mailbox so we can reply. It is deleted after one year and is not passed on to dealers or anyone else.

To allow at most five requests an hour from one place, the site keeps a scrambled form of your network address for that hour.

What the site counts

The site keeps one total per day for each of four actions: a building changed in the designer, a shared building opened, a click on “Get prices” and a click on a related page. Nothing is stored with a total: no address, no network address, no identifier. Totals older than 120 days are deleted, and automated browsers are not counted.

To stop the counting in your browser, open any page with ?mbc_nocount=1 at the end of the address; the browser keeps that choice in its local storage. ?mbc_nocount=0 turns the counting back on.

Cloudflare

Every request to the site passes through Cloudflare, which delivers and protects it and so handles your network address and browser details. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views, where visits come from and how fast pages load. It sets no cookies and uses no local storage. Fonts and scripts come from the site itself; no other service is contacted.

Server log

The server logs each request: the address, the time, the network address it came from, the page that linked to it and the name of the browser. The log is kept for 14 days to run and protect the site, then deleted.

Cookies and accounts

The site sets no cookies. It has no accounts, comments, newsletter or advertising.
